Congratulations to Jeremy Grieveson
In honor of his dedicated service to the Town of Glastonbury and its schools, the Glastonbury Republican Town Committee has proudly named Jeremy Grieveson as its 2015 Republican of the Year. A resident of the Town since 1981, Jeremy was first elected to the Board of Education in 2003, and currently serves as its Vice Chairman, as well as the Town’s representative to the Capitol Region Education Council.
Jeremy’s contributions to the Board of Education have left an indelible mark on the Town and its families, as Jeremy has been instrumental in maintaining the quality of the Glastonbury Public Schools high while keeping the per-pupil costs to our taxpayers comparatively low. As the Chairman of the Board’s Budget Committee, Jeremy has been a driving force in implementing high technology, cost-effective programs and solutions into our school system, such as the incorporation of tablet computers in the high school and middle school curriculums, and the installation of energy-efficient upgrades and improvements to various school buildings. Jeremy’s distinctive insight and long-term vision have also guided the Board on future planning with regard to enrollment and infrastructure.
Jeremy holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa, and retired after spending over thirty-seven years in international and local management with Arbor Acres Farm, which was formerly headquartered in Glastonbury. Jeremy is also very active in the Glastonbury community, and is a member of both the Rotary Club of Glastonbury, and the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury. Jeremy lives in South Glastonbury with his wife, Jill, and has three adult daughters, including Jennifer and twins Karen and Alison, and three grandchildren.
Jeremy will receive the 2015 Glastonbury Republican of the Year award at the Town Committee’s annual Lincoln Dinner, which will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club, 239 Country Club Road in South Glastonbury. Senator Len Fasano (R-34th District), Senate Minority Leader of the Connecticut State Senate, will be the keynote speaker.
