Jim Zeller
I was born in Brooklyn, lived in Baltimore, MD for several years as a child and grew up primarily on Long Island. In 1978 I relocated to Connecticut. In 1991 my wife and I moved to Glastonbury where our son grew up and graduated from GHS in 2011.
I graduated from the State University of New York at Farmingdale with an Associate Degree in Police Science and later a Bachelor’s Degree in public administration from Central Connecticut State University. I served 21 years with the West Hartford Police Department and 21 years as an Investigator for the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office in the Superior Court of Juvenile Matters.
I owned and operated a small business for nearly a decade in Simsbury until 1990 and was President of the West Hartford Police Local #1283 of AFSCME from 1991-1995, Secretary from 1995-1999 and Executive Vice-President of AFSCME Connecticut Council 15 from 1991-1999. I was first elected to the Board of Education in 2003 and eventually served 12 years until 2015 when I was elected to the Board of Finance position I currently hold and one I wish to be re-elected to this November.
It has been my good fortune to work with an excellent Town Staff and very knowledgeable members of the Board of Finance to ensure Glastonbury’s long term financial viability while supporting the Town Council’s efforts to maintain Glastonbury’s high quality of life.
