I immigrated to the United States in 1988 and have blazed an impressive trail through hard work and perseverance. I’m a licensed Connecticut attorney; I graduated with a law degree from Western New England University School of Law and hold an MBA from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford. I was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honors society and was honored to receive the coveted anchor award, for exceptional professional success, from the University of Hartford in 2020. I currently hold board positions with the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut (SABAC), the Barney School of business, and MARC (A non-profit which supports people with developmental disabilities). I have raised three successful and ambitious daughters, one in residency and two in medical school at Georgetown University. Currently I reside in Glastonbury with my three daughters and husband, Dr. Parveen Khanna.
Why am I running for office? It’s quite simple – I want our town back! The town that used to be safe. The town where my daughters grew up playing in our yard without fear for their safety. The town where I could leave my car unlocked. The town where our children were taught an unbiased education; where discussion and debate were encouraged and children were allowed to express their views irrespective of ideology. The town who was fiscally responsible and transparent when it came to budgets and taxes. The town where elected officials were picked based on merit. That is my mission – To restore normalcy, safety, and fiscal responsibility to the town we all call home – Glastonbury.
