Susan Dzialo
After growing up in Western Massachusetts I attended Connecticut College in New London and subsequently pursued an insurance career in Hartford that spanned over 35 years. My experience was wide ranging, including sales, project management, strategic planning, and pension administration. During this time I met my husband, Mark, which brought me to South Glastonbury. We married and settled into the house built by his grandparents on family property along Main Street. We are being followed in this tradition by our son and his wife who have settled into the house next door, built by Mark’s parents, where they await the arrival of the next — the 6th — generation on this family property.
I was very fortunate to retire early and became active in the Glastonbury RTC where I am currently Secretary, and also work in the Registrar’s office. In 2019 I was elected Alternate on the ZBA and more recently, appointed Member to fill the vacancy when long-standing member Tim Lamb retired.
The ZBA has been a congenial group of bi-partisan representatives who have acted thoughtfully and considerately in their judgment of applications. I have found this role to be a great opportunity to serve the community in a way that touches people quite directly, and in my view, it is a great example of one meaning of “keeping it local”.
