Proposed Development on Manchester Road — TPZ Hearing Continued to June 21st

There will be a Public Hearing of the Town Plan and Zoning Commission continued on  June 21 at 7 p.m.  via Zoom, which Agenda will include a proposed 74 unit, 5-story apartment building at 1199 Manchester Road. This site is located near the intersection with Hebron Avenue in the southwest corner by the Shell station.
Multiple documents make up the presentation as listed on the Agenda, but attached, here, is the primary application.
Approval of such a development would be a radical departure from the careful development actions of the town over the decades, one of the main reasons Glastonbury is so desirable to live in. The proposed structure would be objectionable even in the town center, but in the proposed location would be a complete aberration, for many reasons. However, under state affordable housing guidelines, local zoning requirements could be overruled.
Some residents may also recall that site was proposed for a commercial property years ago, and was rejected because of the enormous amount of excavation required, as the area is all ledge, and there was  concern over the attendant issues with public safety and truck traffic.   You are encouraged to examine this proposal for its suitability to the location, and to show up at the Public Hearing to express your views.
